Well... not exactly but lol.
I received Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for the 360 through GameFly. I go to pop the game in, and the disc refuses to read. Tried it several more times ? Same result. Kept getting the 'Open Tray' message.
Afterwords, I put Assassin's Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, and Bayonetta in to see whether it was just the game disc, or the system/lens. And none of those games would read at all either.
Now, I ran into a similar issue a few months back with this. But was able to fix it by unplugging everything and de-attaching the HDD for several mins. Then plugging everything back in and then it would work fine. Only thing this time. That didn't work, lmao.
Funny thing is, I played Assassin's Creed 2 last night without a problem whatsoever. Go to play the 360 today ? And its practically dead ! lol
Right now, I'm looking at picking up my 4TH X-Box 360 console in the last 4-5 years.
1st System: RROD after only 4 months of use.
2nd System: RROD after about a year.
3rd System: "Open Tray" error/PS2's Disc Read Error issues.
Needless to say, I'm very unhappy with Microsoft right now... lol. I still love the 360, and its games. But this is getting a little ridiculous.
So at the moment. I'm out without a 360, and I can't play Battlefield Bad Company 2 .
One thing I'd like to add. Having just picked up a PS3 console this past XMas. If I run into as much problems with PS3's as I did the 360 thus far. I'm throwing in the towel on the 'current generation' of gaming consoles. I miss the days when video game consoles were reliable and lasted longer then 1-2 years. I still have the 'fat' PS2 from XMas 2002. Still works, and running strong after 8 years. Same with my SNES, NES and a few other consoles that I've owned for many many years lol. I think the reason these systems last much longer then most newer consoles is simply because these consoles generally just do one thing, and one thing only: PLAY VIDEO GAMES !
No DVD or Blu-Ray Player emulations, Backward Compatibility, Internet Browsers, etc, etc. Sure, those things are nice to have packaged in. But in this day of age where video game consoles over the last 10 years have died within' the first year of purchase. Is it really worth having all this extra stuff ?
This is something that I tip my hat off to Nintendo for. There systems are geared towards Video Games. PERIOD ! Nothing else. And how often do you hear about Nintendo Wii's becoming 'bricked', or past systems like the GameCube or Nintendo 64 malfunctioning ? Not too often. Very very few and far between compared to Sony & Microsoft combined.
So my advice to these companies. When you go to make a video game console. Just do that. Make a video game console. Not an 'entertainment' system. Lay off the extra stuff and just support video games.
DLC is fine. Online Multiplayer is a must. But, get rid of the extra baggage.
Just about every household has at least one DVD player in there home. So, scratch that feature. Blu-Ray Players are somewhat expensive. But even still. If you really want to watch Blu-Ray movies that bad. Just pick up a Blu-Ray player, lol.
Internet Browsing ? Well, that's what PC's are for. No need to have this in gaming consoles.
So my bottom line is this. To Sony, Microsoft, and even Nintendo to an extent. Stick to the basics. Make a video game console, not entertainment consoles. No need for this extra stuff. You wonder why 360's experience RROD's, Error Messages, Overhearting. PS3's experiencing HDD failures and 'Yellow Light of Death' ? Too much going on inside the console. Running too many functions at one time will take a toll on the circuit boards and will eventually lead to system failure.
And back to topic. I'm screwed ! lol. No 360, No Battlefield Bad Company 2 (and I really wanted to play it XD), and ... that's all i got to say.
*End Rant*
