Before I start. No fanboy comments please from either side. This is not a 360 vs PS3 thread. So no "360 sux, PS3 rulz" or vice versa comments please.
OK, needless to say. I'm pretty disappointed at the moment.
My 360 just died a few mins. ago. This being my 3rd system to date. Unlike the first two (that died from the infamous "RROD" hardware error). This one just stopped reading game discs completely.
For the exception of a couple of my games. The majority of the ones I have are in tip-top condition and have hardly any scratches whatsoever on them.
I looked up the issue on Wikipedia (since XBox.com doesn't have anything that I could tell that would help me out lol). According to there website. There is another issue with X-Box's going around called the "Open Tray" error. Instead of booting up your game disc as normal. You get the "Open Tray" message or "Play DVD" message, that would then send you to an error screen telling you to insert a X-Box 360 Game Disc and/or DVD. As seen below:
The official statement from Wikipedia reads:
"When an Xbox 360 cannot read a CD/DVD or game disc, it may not recognize that it has a disc in its drive. Instead of "Play Game" or "Play DVD", an "Open Tray" option appears. The issue is linked to a dirty laser in the DVD drive or a magnetic problem that prevents the drive from spinning. However, disconnecting and re-connecting the Xbox 360 sometimes works. Lately some cases in which the Xbox 360 can not read any more discs reporting this error all the time have appeared."
So yeah... if you get this ^^^ ? Your fucked XD. Microsoft doesn't offer any free repairs for this. So look to be charged an arm & a leg for repairs.
On the bright side. This gives me plenty of time to play my older systems, and the Wii.
