Walks into the thread and smacks all the TNA Haters and runs
To me, you guys are totally one sided. So I know nothing I say or do will even get you to look at things without being unbiased and saying something to the extent of *WWE Rules, everyone else sucks*. But, since I am usually the only one with any guts to stand up and go the other direction. I'll throw in my two cents worth.
Lets take Jack Swagger. Since his name was mentioned & brought up here.
A): His win was totally fucking random at WM 26. He had absolutely no build and in my honest opinion. Was a filler character in the match to begin with. More or less. Swagger never did ANYTHING of importance since winning the ECW Champion a year ago. And once that run was over with. His character was dead. When he got drafted to RAW. He wasn't doing a damn thing. And instead of WWE doing the right thing and allowing someone to win the MITB that WAS getting a push at the time. Names like Christian or Drew McIntyre. They go with this guy ? Come on WWE. Where is your head at these days ?
B): Swagger does the unthinkable and wins the World Heavyweight Championship from Chris Jericho. And as such, goes to SmackDown. Then, he gets on the microphone and talks like a fucking robot in his championship address. And folks. hearing him speak is worse then hearing Orton rant.
C): Since then, Swagger's had a few matches and guess what ? He's lost them all. Cena beats him on RAW two weeks ago to give him his official 'send off' to SD (Swagger's that is obviously). Swagger has another good match up on SD. Yeah, he gets the win over Jericho & Edge. BUT, it was done after the fact that Jericho was hurt in the match. So therefore, I don't justify that as a "WOW ! Swagger just beat two of WWE's top stars. I'll jump on his bandwagon now like everyone else".
D): Last night's RAW. He had a great match with Taker. But, Taker goes over Swagger.
So going 1-2 in the last 3 shows heading into the PPV. And, with him having such a stale character. How can anyone get behind this guy ? He's a good wrestler from what I can tell. But just being a good wrestler isn't enough to put me over to like the guy or see him as a credible World Champion.
Do I blame Swagger completely for this ? No, not exactly. The blame falls squarely on the WWE Creative Team and the way they are RUSHING to push new stars. And in doing so. There fucking up miserably !
Sheamus is another one. Moving him to RAW almost immeadiably several months ago ? BIG MISTAKE ! There's so much they could have done with him before shipping him off to RAW that I felt would've made his character more effective, and better yet. More likeable.
If it was me doing the booking. I'd have Sheamus go on a tear through the ECW Roster. Have him go on this undefeated streak. Tearing through guys like Goldust, Shelton Benjamin, Vladimir Kozlov (whom, at the time was a babyface), The Hurricane, etc, etc. capping off his ECW run on the last ECW show ever. With an ECW Championship victory over Christian. Which, in turn. Would piss off every 'mark' & 'wrestling fan' around the world. Seeing Sheamus snap Christian's 6-7 month ECW title run would've been HUGE for that character. Plus, not to mention. He is forever labeled as the last ECW Champion ever.
So from that point. ECW guys are free agents. Sheamus moves over to RAW eventually. Does the same song & dance for a couple of weeks. Takes out a few RAW jobbers & mid-carders to develop his character (and winning streak). Before he decides "Hey, I'm on RAW now. I don't want to play with these little guys. I want the best RAW has to offer". Thus, we have Triple H. Whom, in real life. We saw the feud go down and still continue on.
The thing I would do differently though is. Since Triple H has complained of nagging neck problems and other injuries. In addition to wanting to take some time off in the near future. For there buildup for WrestleMania 26. You have Sheamus go over Triple H instead. After the match. Sheamus could "perminatly" take out Triple H. Bashing his head with HHH's own sledgehammer or perhaps Crucifix Powerbombing him through an announcer table or something to that extent. Laying HHH out completely. Hurting him to where we don't think he's going to come back.
From that point on. WM is now over. Sheamus is victorious. He just took out one of the WWE's top stars ever in Triple H. John Cena just defeated Batista for the WWE Championship. Batista, INSTEAD of sticking around on RAW to continue the feud. Goes back, and stays on SmackDown.
So now, Cena needs a new opponent to face. Who better then Sheamus to be the next guy. So, these two men start a feud for Extreme Rules. Sheamus, mind you, still undefeated. So the odds are stacked against Cena. As wrestling fans (NOT marks,
) think he's not going to beat this guy, lol.
So , after all the build-up is over. You go into Extreme Rules. Due to a previous stipulation. The match is deemed a 'Last Man Standing' match (such as the Cena/Batista match is in real life). Both men have the best match they can possibly have for a good 20 mins before Sheamus takes out Cena and officially becomes our new WWE Champion.
So now, Sheamus is your WWE Champion. And in my eyes. Is now officially a new SuperStar that has been made, and has a good following the fans. Because, he's been properly built up to a point where he can now transition to a main event guy from his days in ECW. So, from the period of time where he debuted in ECW. Up to the moment where he beats Cena for the title at Extreme Rules. Fans should already be supporting this guy for the RIGHT REASONS. Not because, marks like him because he took out Cena in a botched ending at TLC or for any other reason there maybe.
Now that is an example of how you make a main eventer. The problem I have, in reality, with the WWE right now is they have no clue how to make new stars. WWE has become the new WCW imho. Because they think if they can throw the main title on a guy. Fans will automatically jump to the guy's side. Big... big mistake. That doesn't work. It only alienates the fans.
Some might be stupid enough to do that. But others, who have followed wrestling for years and years. Know, that is not how you do things. And if memory serves me correctly. The only legnimate/potential main eventer that was made in the WWE over the last two years has been CM Punk. If you look at the RAW & SmackDown roster. The only guys who compete in consistant main event level matchups are the same guys that we've seen compete in those same matches for the last 5 years.
John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker, Batista, Chris Jericho, Edge, and before his retirement. Shawn Michaels.
Now, don't get me wrong here folks. I like to see new stars being made. But if there made by some bullshit reason, or just slapped in there as a 'flavor of the month' champion (as we've seen happen with Sheamus. And, probably what will eventually happen with Swagger). The WWE is only hurting themselves in the long run. Because, those same 6 main eventers listed above aren't going to be around forever.
So my advice to WWE is. Learn how to make stars, and make them RIGHT. Don't do this bullshit random stuff that will only turn your fans against these guys rather then get you behind them and support them.
Now for TNA.
Honestly, I haven't been too happy with TNA. And, granted by the posts I've seen here & in most places. Others have been disappointed too. But, slowly but surely. I have grown to like and accept TNA. Simply because, they are trying to bring back wrestling.
Its not your typical 'wrestling show'. Sure, guys like Hogan & Bischoff might be there and people instantly hate them because *surprise, surprise. They tried to kill off everyone' sprecious WWE years ago in WCW*. So I can understand the disdain towards those guys. But instead of looking at the big pictures. People automatically hate them just because they want to. Rather then going around and picking out legnimate reasons as to why you do them so.
And what makes the situation even funnier is. People like Jay/Lauren who seems to not like TNA. Don't even watch there shows on a weekly basis and only tunes into the PPV's. Which, btw is fine. But at the same time. How can you sit there and put down a product that you really don't watch ? lol.
Now for me. I'll admit. That I haven't been the biggest fan of either side in the last several months. Because antics from both sides have turned me against wrestling to a point where I've ALMOST given up on the whole sport.
Now, on to TNA. The biggest complaint that I see besides the obvious "fire Hogan, Bischoff, Russo bullshit" is that TNA has more promo's then wrestling.
My response: Big freakin' deal. So does WWE. Hell, I watched RAW & Impact last night. And there was more wrestling on Impact then RAW overall. But in general. Both shows have promo's. And I've seen's RAW's promo's drag on forever & ever. Not saying TNA doesn't do this. But you have to realize. When you've got a PPV coming up. YOu have to spend as much time possible to promote & sell your matches for that card.
TNA only has 1 show to do this a week. That's it lol. WWE has 3 of them. So, WWE can easily spread out there promo's & matches very easily amongst those shows. And that is often the reason why in a 1 week span. WWE has more wrestling then TNA does on there weekly Impact telecasts.
For TNA. They have to take what they got. When, they have a PPV coming up 4 weeks. That gives them at least 3 Impact shows to put over every feud they need to promote. Get all those guys some mic time to build there characters, and to build there feuds. Then if they have time left over. They do show some wrestling.
Now, would we like to see TNA show more wrestling ? Of course. Just as much as you guys want to see that happen. I would like to see that happen too. But at the same time. I understand, and.. this is something the TNA haters or the ones who watch the shows on occasion need to understand. Cutting out commercials. Your only given roughly 90 mins to do what you have to do on one show a week. To me, with the number of guys TNA has on the roster. Its hard to do. Plus, you have to remember. Because of that 1 show a week with a good 40-50 wrestler roster. You have to alternate your wrestlers week to week. Shuffling around all the Knockouts & Mid-Carders, while keeping the main crew of guys that are currently over and drawing in crowds.
Now I know, most of you think the obvious "Why doesn't TNA have a 2nd show" ? Well, reason is. There trying to establish and gain an audience for there first show 'Impact' lol. That is why. Once they have that down. Then the doors could open up for a possible second show. Which, I think would should air on Thursday's in 'Impact's old time slot.
If I were TNA. I would save all your guys that you need to put over the upcoming PPV for the Impact show. Now just neccesarly your current crop of main eventers like... AJ Styles, Abyss, Desmond Wolfe, Samoa Joe (who's now back on the scene), Sting, Hogan, etc. But you could throw in your top TNA Knockouts on the show too with a sprinkle of a couple of the tag teams or mid-carders.
Then, for TNA's new show (lets just call it 'Xplosion'. Since TNA does have an internet show by that name). That could be your show to show your new stars of TNA, and give the ones who typically wouldn't get much exposure, more air time and wrestling time. Particularly, this show would be more reserved for the X-Division guys, the leftover TNA knockouts & mid-carders that get little, to no air-time as it is now.
So bottom line to my 'rant' so to speak is this. Lets be more unbiased and respectful to the other promotions for what they deliver each week. Keep a more 'open mind' about every wrestling organization. Each of them is different and provide there own 'flavor'. WWE is more sports entertainment and specticle. TNA is more fast paced and raunchier (similar to the Attitude era) and ROH is pure wrestling at its finest.
So, instead of wishing for one organization to be more like another show. Like, people wanting TNA to be another WWE. To be more along the lines of the same booking, same run-of-the-mill product, etc. Or, for WWE to go back to TV-14 so they can be more 'edgier' like TNA. Lets look and respect each company for what they do. These wrestlers give there lives to the business to entertain US. Each of them. Young or Old. Male or Female. Sick or Hurt. Wrestle, and bust there asses every week to give us wrestling fans the best show they can give us.
So... as much as we typically bitch & moan about things we dislike or even like about each place. Lets be more positive and supportive of each company.
For me, I'm completely unbiased. I look at wrestling, like I do every situation. From both sides, and I analyze and pick apart everything about each place. Each place has there 'pro's & con's' like EVERYTHING else in the world.
Instead of being smart-asses or being sooooo negative all the time. Lets watch, and support these guys as wrestling fans. Not as marks, or 'critiques'. Let the critiques do there jobs. Lets do more of ours as wrestling fans. Cheer on the favorites. Boo the ones we hate. That's what wrestling is supposed to be about.
