Nurse: Doctor ? Is it time ?
Doc: Yes... its been 6 months now. She's been passing all of her recent tests. Other then her memory being a bit foggy. She has regained most of her memory. Although, she is still having trouble remembering what had happened to her nine years ago. She seems to be fine.
We've put her on the best anti-depressant pills, and every other medication possible to help her cope with the loss of her mother. And...
Nurse: I know, but I still feel its a bit soon to be letting her out. This will be Amy's first time out in the real world. She has no relatives nearby to take her in. Much less a job. I'm more concerned about her well being.
Doc: You know the rules, ma'am. Never allow yourself to become too emotionally attached to a patient. Your job is to...
Nurse: I know, I know the rule. Never allow yourself to get involved in a patients personal affairs. I respect that, doc. But the fact is. This girl has been traumatized ! She's laid in a coma for nine years before waking up just six months ago.
Doc: Right, but she has made tremendous progress since that time. Her mind has become more stabilized. Amy has done everything we've asked of her to do. Now its time to let her go. I know its going to be hard to do. Hell, the girl is like family to the staff here. But we've done all we can for her. Now its time for her to regroup, and restart her life.
Nurse: *Sighs* Whatever you say sir. I just hope your right, and I'm wrong about all this. .
Doc: *With a grin on his face. He puts his arm on her shoulder* Everything will be fine, trust me.
Aww... there she is now. Are you ready to go ?
... I think so
Amy replies. Dressed in tight blue jeans, cutoff t-shirt, Nike shoes, with her brown hair tied up in a ponytail.
Thank you all for everything. I just don't know really what to say. All of you have been like a big second family to me.
Amy's lip starts to quiver a bit. A tear starts to drip from her right eye as she wipes it away. Her doctor replies:
Doc: *Smiles* Don't mention it. Lets hope that the next time we meet. You'll be here to visit us and give us some good news on your progress. We are all happy for you, Amy. Its been a rough road for you to travel thus far. I hope that someday. You'll find the answers your looking for. We're all really sorry about what happened to you and your mom.
Yeah... the sad part about it is. No ones knows who did this. No evidence, Not a trace of the killer at all. I just wish I could remember something from that night. Anything at all ! I know my mother is in a better place. But a part of me can't help but feel guilty or responsible for all of this.
Doc: Hey now ! Don't say that, Amy. Its just your guilty conscious playing tricks on you. You and your mother were the victims, okay ? What happened that night was a horrific, random act of violence that... well... unfortunately. Happens in this life. Nothing can stop it. Nobody can really protect you from it. You just have to face it. Some people are lucky enough to come out unscathed or uninjured. Others... well... you know.
The nurse speaks up:
Nurse: Listen Amy. What your doctor is trying to tell you is. You can't keep living in the past. But you can't keep living in the past & dwelling on it. Your mother wouldn't want you to do this. She would want you to be a successful young lady. She would want to see her daughter grow up to be fine, lovely young woman who has a successful career. Perhaps some day, marry a wonderful husband and have a couple of children.
You have your whole life to look forward to... Amy. Let the police handle your past now. Sooner or later, the truth will come out. The killer will be brought to justice. But for the time being. Live your life as if nothing has ever happened to you at all.
... Thank You ! I really needed to hear that, ya know.
Amy gives a big hug to the nurse. Then afterwords, she turns and makes her leave from the hospital.
**3 Days Later**
Amy arrives in Seattle, Washington via American Airlines. As a kind gesture from the Chi-Town area hospital. The hospital paid for Amy's plane ticket and gave her some spending money.
Living arrangements were made two weeks ago for her to move into her aunt's home. Who agreed to take her in until Amy was able to get out on her own two feet.
With her father having walked out on her family when she was only three. With no brothers, sisters, or grandparents around. The only other person to take her in temporally was her mother's sister, Isabella.
Unlike her mother. Who was perceived to be rather strict, and had somewhat of a 'tough love' approach. Isabella was the opposite. More care free, and good hearted. Never having a bad word to say about anyone, or anything.
After a few hours had passed by. Amy arrives to Isabella's home.
